INTERNATIONAL WOMEN'S DAY CELEBRATION

Join us for a special screening of "THE DAY ICELAND STOOD STILL" in celebration of International Women's Day.

The Day Iceland Stood Still tells the remarkable true story of October 24, 1975, when 90% of Iceland’s women walked off their jobs and out of their homes to demand equality. The film captures the courage, humor, and determination of ordinary women who created extraordinary change. Inspiring and deeply moving, it celebrates the power of collective action and reminds us that it’s never too late to stand up and make a difference.

We will also be collecting funds (cash or cheque) at the theatre for Period Poverty (see below).

Friends are welcome.

Period Poverty Persists in Ottawa – Donate at the Mayfair screening

Thousands of women and girls in Ottawa face their periods without menstrual products. Rent, food, clothing must come first.

CFUW women can help by donating money by cash or cheque (made out to CFUW-Ottawa) at the Mayfair screening. A desk will be set up inside the theatre to collect these funds. With these funds we will buy exactly what E Fry and the Centretown Community Food Bank have asked for. Please be generous.
